The Respiratory Care Society of Washington, has had a very successful year. The respiratory therapists of Washington State continue to work diligently throughout the state to promote the profession of respiratory therapy, increase public awareness of respiratory related diseases as well as the profession and advocate for our patients through education, presentations, meetings, and legislative actions during the past year.  This year those efforts were recognized by the AARC and the House of Delegates (HOD) at the 2017 AARC National Congress in Indianapolis when the Respiratory Care Society of Washington (RCSW) was awarded the Summit Award.

The Summit award recognizes the best state affiliate for their efforts and achievements in promoting the field of respiratory care and promoting professionalism in respiratory care.  To win this award the state must demonstrate excellence in six major areas:  education, membership, legislation, public awareness, membership benefits and collaboration with other medical groups. This is the second time the RCSW has been awarded this prestigious award.  The first time it was awarded was back in 2012.

It was a tremendous honor to accept the Summit Award for the Respiratory Care Society of Washington as the outstanding state affiliate for the AARC. It’s even more of a honor to work with such a great group of therapists. This award was a team effort and it’s an accomplishment all respiratory therapist, in Washington, should be proud of. The RCSW Board of Directors would like to take this time to congratulate each and every one of the therapists in our State on a job well done.  Congratulations!
