RCSW accepting Applications for House of Delegates Student Mentorship Program

Apply by September 15th to be a student invitee to the House of Delegate's Meeting in Tampa Florida on November 5th and 6th, 2015

The Respiratory Care Society of Washington (RCSW) Student Engagement Committee is pleased to invite a student in good standing the opportunity to attend the House of Delegate (HOD) meeting to be held in Tampa Florida November 5-6, 2015. The HOD is composed of representatives from each chartered affiliate and is tasked to adopt such rules, regulations, policies and procedures with respect to the House as it may deem necessary or appropriate.

If nominated the RCSW will provide you up to 4 nights’ lodging, round trip airfare, and per-diem expenses for the Fall HOD meeting in Tampa, FL on November 5 and 6, 2015. You will get to meet some of the legends in our field; people you have or will read about in AARC publications, authors of textbooks and guides, and members of the AARC BOD.

To be considered:

 

  1. You must be an AARC member.
  2. Write an Essay (300-500 words) in which you describe how you will benefit from this opportunity. How do you anticipate that this experience will enhance your understanding of and involvement with respiratory care Include all contact information and also your AARC number. 
  3. You will submit, no later than September 15, 2015 to Jennifer Armstrong at jennifer.armstrong2014@gmail.com.  
  4. Jennifer Armstrong, Student Engagement Committee chair, and the RCSW Student Delegate Committee (Carl Hinkson, Cory Martin and Michele Pedicone) will be selecting the winner. We will consider grammar, spelling, creativity and why you believe the HOD and the AARC are important, and your ability to clearly express yourself.
  5. A reference letter from your instructor 

 

 If you are selected, here’s what we expect of you:

 

  1. You will commit yourself to being available November 4-7th .(Travel dates are included). You will sign an agreement to reimburse the RCSW for all non-reimbursable expenses in the event you cancel your trip. You will provide receipts to the RCSW Treasurer. 
  2. You will be representing the RCSW at the meetings. Therefore, you will show up on time for meetings, dress appropriately (business), and conduct yourself properly. 
  3. You will be required to write a paper on what you learned/experienced at the meeting, this will be posted in the Student Newsletter and also the RCSW website. 
  4. You will be required to present to the students at the Annual Conference in April 2015 about your experience. 

 The Committee will announce the winner of the presentation contest by September 20, 2015. We will notify all applicants of the winner. GOOD LUCK!
