Rob DiBlasi, RRT-NPS FAARC, Clinical Research Coordinator at Seattle Children’s Hospital & Research Institute, is part of a research team that has received a 2.3 million dollar grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation.

Their interest in Seattle Children’s is in work on a high-amplitude bubble CPAP (HAB-CPAP) device that can be used in limited resource environments. Mr. DiBlasi coinvented the device along with other researchers and engineers.
According to Mr. DiBlasi, many of the deaths of premature infants in underdeveloped parts of the world could be avoided but for lack to technology that is easily accessible in the US.
The HAB-CPAP device would be easy to manufacture and operate. Two features that are desirable for equipment to be used in limited resource settings.
